Timmins Post

They came. They saw. They left. Ha.

We were lucky to have The Timmins Clan (Sean, Brittney, and brewing baby) come and visit in April. We were able to travel around with them a little bit, we went to the Great Ocean Road and the Grampians. Since we have uploaded a ton of pictures from the Great Ocean Road before we have kept it to a minimum. The first beach pictures we have attached are the Great Ocean Road. The mountain and aboriginal art are at the Grampians.
We did go to Tasmania which was new for us and it was amazing. We were sold on Tasmania. If we had to describe it in a words, it would be... beautiful. Beautiful scenery, beautiful local grown food, and beautiful wine. We drove up the middle of the state through small picturesque towns to the Bay of Fires. It is called that because of the red lichen on the rocks, which made it look like the natives had set the beach on fire when the "whities" sailed by. We drove down the east coast to Swansea and to the Freycinet National Park for the view of Wineglass bay... which we did not see due to the thick layer of fog covering it. We made a mad dash up the hill in the rain and fog to see the bay before the Timmins had to be at the airport and we didn't even get to see it. On the bright side we did get to stop at the Berry Farm and eat delicious jam, scones and coffee. While driving through the state we stopped at waterfalls, coffee, small cafes, the dairy for cheese, beer, windmills, wine, and coffee (Brittney was craving Latte's).

Wilsons Promontory National Park

Just this past weekend we had our first camping experience for the 2012 year. It was to say the least very exciting. We looove camping, we looove hiking and we looove taking photos. Very successful trip, everyone came back with all limbs intact with only minor blood loss occurring from the wicked crazy wombats. Since we probably wouldn't be able to describe it better than the government of Victoria, we'll just mention what they said. "The Prom is one of Victoria’s most-loved places. At the southernmost tip of mainland Australia, it offers spectacular scenery of huge granite mountains, open forest, rainforest, sweeping beaches and coastlines. Great bushwalks extend from under an hour to over three days. The waters surrounding the Prom are protected as a marine national park and marine park and offer outstanding diving."

The Move to Tomorrow

We've officially dropped an anchor in the wonderful city of Melbourne. It seems like it was just yesterday we were throwing the last of our junk in the storage facility. The last month hasn't been without any activity. Sometimes it is hard to believe the amount of stuff we've done even though we haven't had any work responsibilities. Tamale Party (Ma and Pa Ruiz make sure to check the freezer there are about 20 left), Rock Party (Tip: taxis are easier to get at 4am than 2am), Christmas Parties, New Years Parties. We love that everyone loves getting together for any reason, but it is easier to get everyone together when you tell them your leaving for a long time. May be we'll keep doing this so we can keep up the party life.

Fiji was nice and relaxing, not much to talk about there. Everyday consisted of some variation of the previous. Reading a book, playing cards, sleeping on the beach, laying in a hammock, swimming or snorkeling in the ocean, swimming in the pool and enjoying some spirits at our leisure (mostly out of a freshly cut coconut). Please reference the links below to our photos for a better description of what we did.
